Do you ever find yourself looking at social media and marveling at the sight of the women who have a consistent routine? They are able to answer questions like, what is your nighttime routine, how often do you work out? What does your diet consist of? It’s incredible! These people are dialed in. They have a routine, it works, and they are not messing with it. If you are like this, I applaud you my friend.
So, what about the rest of us? Those of us who can’t remember what we ate for dinner last night? Those of us who long to be the 5 am work out girl but are more likely to hit snooze than the treadmill. Can we still thrive? Maybe we can?
What if instead of consistent routines, we implemented consistent guiding principles? You may not have a consistent workout that you like to do, maybe you can’t make it to the gym as often as you like, but instead of trying to fit yourself into a lifestyle that doesn’t fit you, maybe you just focus on movement in general. Any type of movement, whenever you can. It could be a walk with your girlfriends, a new class, or a youtube wall pilates class.
So, you don’t have a meal plan, that’s ok! You’re busy and you’re doing the best you can. Instead of adhering to a strict diet, focus on foods that make you feel good. Try your best to pick an option that is balanced, you need energy for your inconsistent life, so make sure that you are sneaking protein and vegetables in wherever you can. Most importantly, do not skip a meal, this will leave you drained and sap your motivation.
Take your vitamins when you remember, move when you can and eat things that leave you feeling energized. Remember, something is better than nothing, don’t waste your time trying to force yourself into a routine that doesn’t fit you. Instead of inconsistent, lets refer to our routine (or perhaps lack there of) as varied and interesting. So do what works for you, and thrive baby, thrive!
